It’s hard when you’re stuck upon the shelf
I changed by not changing at all, small town predicts my fate...
Welcome to 2004 (9 days late, but it's the thought that counts)! I swear I forget things like an ELDERLY person these days...
I've been too stressed out to update lately, I guess. I had to deal with some pshycho WOMAN a couple days ago at work (I'm serious...all she could say was "I'm deathly ill..."). Prior to that, I had to cut my vacation short by installing a phone system at a business in Pella. Spending 4 hours STANDING on a box in a phone closet is not my idea of a vacation day. So, dear reader, I'm BEHIND in my blogging. I say 'Blah' to you.
Christmas was A blast this year. The girls are at the age where Christmas is truly enjoyable. Chance is just old enough to enjoy chewing on paper. That's a recipe for a good time, believe me.
Chance has started crawling; we had almost given up hope. According to my father, I started walking at 7 months (confirmed by my mother, too). Chance started pushing himself backwards right around 6 months, but showed no signs of wanting to go forwards. Now, in the span of a few days, he's everywhere. He's a quick little shit, too!
I got a router (not a r0ut3r, a wood router) for Christmas. It's perfect! It's big enough to do what I want, and yet small enough to do some Dremel-type stuff. Now all I need is a table saw (my dad informed me he might have one he'd "store at my house"...how cool is that?), and I can finally get the COUNTER top finished in the kitchen. I built a small table to play board games on IN the living room as my first project. It's functional, but not too pretty to look at. I'll re-do it later, I'm sure. I also built an end table that my wife adores. I'll make some nicer tables (out of good lumber) later, when I can afford the lumber. I built it out of scrap plywood and deckboards, but I put A nice paint job on it, and gave it a couple coats of poly. It works. It's SMALL enough to fit between the couch and the rocking chair, which is perfect.
One thing I miss about living in the country: John Deere tractor snow removal! Living in TOWN, I now have to shovel the driveway and sidewalk. It sucks...bad.
Bowling was encouraging again last night. After the 3 week layoff (we hit Christmas and New Years'), I shot 234-209-233=676. Only one open frame, too...and that was in the last game. My dad shot 682, also. I'm glad to have him back on the team this year, and I know he's happy to be bowling again. Whenever I get down on my game, he always comes up with some PEARL of wisdom to point me in the right direction.
Well folk(s), that's enough for today. I'm gonna sit at my desk and JAM to some Friday tunes. Peace out.
PS - Let me know how you like/dislike the new lyric-themed posts. If you have no idea what I mean, stop reading my blog (kidding!).
