The smell of hospitals in winter
And the feeling that it’s all a lot of oysters, but no pearls...

No, .Frank...it's NOT "Silent Night"...

It's been A while since I've updated my bowling season...a LONG while, actually. I've been bowling crappy lately. I don't know what the problem is. A lot of the other guys in the league whom I consider to be the 'top level' are bowling crappy, too. I guess that's good, for two reasons. One, it gives some of the lower average guys a chance to shine. Two, it means maybe I don't suck as bad as I thought...

Here we are in the second week of DECEMBER, and it's been 3 or 4 weeks since I've even felt like I could take something positive away from any game, let alone series. To top things off, I slipped on the ice yesterday and my tailbone lodged somewhere between my shoulderblades and my hat. It didn't really hurt to walk or move any more than it did to sit or lie down, so I decided to go ahead and attempt to bowl. Believe me, the way I've been bowling, I was looking for a good excuse to take a week off. But, since we hit Christmas and New Year's (no bowling for 2 weeks) soon, I guilted myself into it.

Thank goodness I did! Although my approach and delivery were probably not a pretty sight, I managed a 207-257-206=670 night, and my faith has been restored. I don't suck, I just fail to make intelligent decisions sometimes, just like the rest of my life!

Speaking of which, after the post-bowling pitch game (in which I survived...COUNTING my losses early, big comeback late to break just better than even), I slipped and fell getting into my vehicle in the bowling alley parking lot. I'm not sure if it's possible to bruise a bruise, but at least my tailbone was hiding in my neck, or it might've cracked in half. It was an ugly, painful night of attempted sleep.

Christmas is coming, and the CROWS up in Sheldon, IA are getting fat, I'm sure. I'm taking 4 days off after Christmas (12/29-1/1), but I'm not sure if we'll make it up there to see Heather's Grandma or not. It would be nice to see everyone, but it might be nice to spend the week at home in our new house for the holidays, too. We'll see, I guess.

(Let's hope the subliminal hints were enough, .Frank)

ESPN Bowl Mania

I have set up a Bowl Mania group on ESPN Fantasy Games. The group name is "Buh?" and the password is "spurrier". Come join the fun!

...but I'm not gay, so get your hand out of my pants...

If you ever get the chance to see/hear a comedian by the name of Stephen Lynch, I highly recommend it. He plays a guitar and sings some incredibly humerous, ableit highly offensive, songs. I've never seen him in person, but on the radio and on tv, he hides foul language well (even adding to the humor, usually), by either substituting initials, different words, or by simply mumbling the word. He's a riot, trust me!
