Tear down the wall...
Tear down the wall...
Tear down the wall...
For those of you who do not know, DirecTV has some FREEVIEW concerts that they show from time to time, usually around channel 103. Some of them are pretty good. This month, they are showing The Wall: Live from Berlin. It's not pretty good. Pretty FREAKING awesome, is what it is! If you dig Pink Floyd, even a little bit, this is a must see. Even those of you who don't know that "Another Brick In The Wall" has 3 parts...
It's too bad that the whole Floyd crew wasn't on hand for this, but Roger Waters did a marvelous job of bringing together a group of A- and B-list musicians and actors...The Scorpions, Bryan Adams, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Thomas Dolby, etc. They held the concert in "No Man's Land", around where Kennedy gave his speech, between the two walls. There were so many people there! The paid attendance was somewhere in the 260,000 range, and they ended up opening the fences to keep people from getting crushed. Some estimated the crowd at nearly 500,000.
They built up a wall out of polystyrene blocks, and then tore it down at the end. During the concert, they projected animation and graffiti on the wall. Just trust me, you gotta see it.
That's all for today.
