And here I will spread my wings, Yes I will call this home...

Ever hear of CTV? Most likely not, since they're Canadian. However, you should check them out. They just ran this groundbreaking story, in which they uncovered the truth about premium ice creams: they're full of saturated fat! I'm hooked on CTV now. I'm anxiously awaiting the upcoming specials on "Running with scissors is a bad idea" and "Alcohol can impair your judgement"...

The roof...The roof...The roof is NOT on fire. It is, however, almost finished! He should be done by noon today. We should be done with the windows this weekend. Then, we wait. The appraiser makes a return trip on Tuesday, and we close on Wednesday. Excitement is in the air!

We worked sparingly on the windows last night. My mom took the girls, so it was just Heather, Chance and I. Chance showed very little interest in glazing windows, so Heather and I did all the work again. We attempted to "christen" the house, but Chance wouldn't allow it.

Chance has "considerable to full" reflux. That explains his vomiting and fussiness. Heather is picking up his medicine today, and I hope it helps. It's pretty rough watching him in so much agony.

Sunday is the Grandparent/Parent/Child golf tournament at Walton. My stepfather and I are going for the threepeat. I sure hope he's playing well, because I'm not!

If you, or anyone you know want a lilac bush, PLEASE let me know. We have several at the new place, and they're going one way or another. If you want one (or two, or three, etc.) let me know.

Hi-ho, hi-ho....it's off to work I go...

Comments!

I changed the blog to php to support comments. Sure, in the process I managed to engulf Mush in my misery. But now she has comments, too!

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colours anymore, I want them to turn black...

The #@$%ing roofer still isn't finished! We keep putting off the gutter people, because they can't start work until he is finished. This is getting ugly.

The windows are progressing nicely. We made a key decision on the basement windows last night (we both agreed...strange), which should save us some time and money there. The upstairs windows remain a problem, as a couple of them can only be reached by a ladder longer than we currently have. Plus, Heather isn't so keen on the whole ladder thing. If only I had a bucket truck...

I sprayed some 8-legged freaks in the basement last night, in preparation for window work tonight. We'll see how well that worked. The pest control people are supposed to come sometime, but we may have to set off some bug bombs tonight.

I trimmed some branches on the two apple trees last night. I had to leave about 6" of each branch sticking out from the trunk, so Madelyn can still climb them. Apparently, 6" wasn't enough on one of the branches, which set off a "Daddy doesn't love me" tantrum. I quickly transported a cement block to the base of the tree, which allows her to reach a little higher. Tantrum subsided.

I think we've decided to try and save the cherry tree. The trunk is split, but I'm not sure what the consequences are. It's still growing, and the leaves are green, so I'm positive it's only cosmetic. One of the branches seems to have some sort of a health issue, but hopefully we can remedy that somehow. Any gardeners, horticulturists, etc. reading this, please feel free to contact me with advice. My dad says it's a bluejay haven, but we'll see.

I talked to .Frank briefly yesterday. He's in SF, working for Apple. You'd think someone with that type of knowledge could update his website every now and then, but apparently not.

I added the 5:00 cam yesterday. I'll try to keep it on while I'm at work (look, I shaved!). I'm not comfortable enough with my script abilities to leave it on when I'm not here yet...

For those interested (I know you all are), the Braves are 66-33. It's their best 99 game start in team history, and it's the best record in the majors. Maddux is pitching well, Smotlz is automatic as they come, the offense is popping, they're busting their butts on defense...'tis good to be a Braves fan...

If it keeps on rainin', the levee's gonna break...

Work, work, work. The work on the house is coming along, but it just seems like it's taking much longer than it should. The roofer, who was supposed to be done last Wednesday, is supposed to be finishing up today. He does a really nice job, but doesn't seem to be around much. He claims to be worried about rain when there's not a cloud in the sky...nothing in the forecast... I dunno. Hopefully he will finish today, and the gutters/downspouts will be installed tomorrow.

I got the garbage disposal in yesterday, with some creative plumbing. It meets the code, but I'd like to redo it when I have more time. Heather is excited about the disposal, I think.

The windows are the sticking point. Heather (and Deb) have most of the 1st floor windows done. I trimmed the shrubs on the east side of the house, so she can finish the last one. Two of the upstairs windows are done, but there's still 6 or 7 left. That leaves the basement windows, which I am most concerned about. I fear some of the wood will need replaced, which we just don't have time for. Hopefully, they will be in good enough shape to get the glass fixed, and we will deal with the frames and sills AFTER we close.

When this is finally over with, I'm going to be indebted to my father and father-in-law for life.
